This is the long version of the Garut Selatan run — the same Kamojang crater and Cikajang tea-country opener as the on-road tour, but instead of turning back, you keep riding south through Cisewu to the coast. The last stretch is narrower, rougher, and less forgiving than anything earlier in the day, which is exactly why it’s built for adventure/dual-sport bikes rather than cruisers. Two to three days, Bandung to the Java Sea and back.

Full Itinerary

Day 1: Bandung to Cikajang via Kamojang

We leave Bandung through Majalaya and Ibun, climbing into the hills toward Kamojang, where the road runs past active geothermal vents — steam fields right at the roadside, sulfur in the air, a strange break from the tea-green scenery on either side. From there it’s down through Samarang and Bayongbong, easy, well-surfaced road with steady curves, ending the day in Cikajang among the tea plantations. This first leg is the same ground the on-road version covers — smooth, scenic, no surprises.

Day 2: Cikajang to Rancabuaya via Cukul, Talegong, and Cisewu

This is where the two versions of the route split. Past Cikajang the road narrows and the tea estates give way to forested hill country around Cukul and Talegong. The surface stays paved the whole way, but it’s uneven — patched, potholed in stretches, tight enough in places that passing is a genuine judgment call. Around Cisewu the road tightens further through sharp switchbacks with real drop-offs; take it in daylight and dry conditions, and don’t push the pace. The payoff comes on the descent into Rancabuaya, where the tree line opens up and you get the south coast laid out below before the final run down to the beach.

Day 3: Rancabuaya to Santolo, and Return

A short coastal run west to Santolo — quieter, less developed than Rancabuaya, worth the extra hour for the beach alone. From here it’s back the way you came, or a longer loop back to Bandung depending on time and how your group is holding up after two days in the saddle. This day is deliberately loose: it’s paced around what people actually want after the Cisewu stretch, not a fixed script.

What’s Included

As with every JavaRide trip, your motorcycle, gear, support vehicle, towing vehicle, road captain, and mechanic are included — you just bring yourself.

Who This Route Fits

Riders who are comfortable on an ADV bike over rough, narrow paved roads with real elevation change — this isn’t a beginner’s introduction to adventure riding. If you want the tea country and crater scenery without the Cisewu stretch, the on-road version of this route [perlu detail: slug halaman versi big bike/on-road belum dikonfirmasi] covers the same opening day and stops at Cikajang.
